Fisher Price Recalls 10 Million High Chairs And Toys!

Augh, are the baby recalls these days ever going to end?  It makes me feel like nothing is safe for Savannah!  Fisher Price annouced this morning that they are recalling ten million high chairs and toys incluing trikes and crawl and kick baby activitiy centers.  The reason for each recall is different.  Go here to see the full list of items being recalled.  I'll warn you now, they are not very straight forward about what is or is not being recalled.  It took me several minutes to determine that our kick and crawl activity center was not included.  Why be so vague about something so serious?  I hope none of you are affected by this recall.

Why does this happen every time?  I will change Savannah's diaper, then sit down on the couch with her and get us both comfy.  As soon as we are, she poops.  She doesn't just poop, she massively poops.  And then she laughs like it's the funniest thing in the world.  Good thing her smile and laugh are sooo precious!  That smile and laugh make all the poop worth it.

So Sorry I Didn't Get Any Posts Up Yesterday!!

It was a very crazy day in my house yesterday.  My stepdaughter's birthday was on Tuesday and my husband picked her up last night, so I had to have everything ready last night for birthday weekend to begin!  She wanted a cake that looked like a farmer's market that she had seen in one of my cake decorating books.  I honestly don't know any other nine year olds that would want a farmer's market birthday cake, but my munchkin gets what my munchkin wants!  It took me eight hours to make it (including making the fondant).  It's not the best cake I have ever made, but it turned out pretty well considering the time restraints I had:

Unfortunately for me, both my husband and stepdaughter decided that they don't like the tast of fondant, so my eight hours of labor were a waste of time and the cake ended up in the trash.  While I was making the cake, I still had Savannah and the other baby girl that I take care of during the week to take care of.  Then I had someone bring by their dogs for me to dog sit while they are out of town.  I'm trying to get stuff up today, but I have six dogs to take care of, a nine year old who is failing math to work with, and a very crabby three month old Savannah who refuses to take a nap!  So much for getting stuff done today!

Similac Is Recalling 5 Million Cans Of Formula!

This is scary!  Similac is recalling around 5 million cans of formula because they may contain small beetle parts and/or larvae!  Gross!  According to Similac's site:

"Abbott is initiating a proactive, voluntary recall of certain Similac-brand, powder infant formulas in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Guam and some countries in the Caribbean.

Abbott is recalling these products following an internal quality review, which detected the remote possibility of the presence of a small common beetle in the product produced in one production area in a single manufacturing facility. The United States Food and Drug Adminstration (FDA) has determined that while the formula containing these beetles poses no immediate health risk, there is a possibility that infants who consume formula containing the beetles or their larvae, could experience symptoms of gastrointestinal discomfort and refusal to eat as a result of small insect parts irritating the GI tract. If these symptoms persist for more than a few days, a physician should be consulted.
The recall of these powder infant formulas includes:

• Certain Similac powder product lines offered in plastic containers.
• Certain Similac powder product lines offered in 8-ounce, 12.4-ounce and 12.9-ounce cans.

To immediately find out if the product in your possession is included in this recall, parents and caregivers should visit http://similac.com/recall/lookup.aspx, and type in their lot number to determine if their product is affected, or call (800) 986-8850.
No Abbott liquid infant formulas are impacted. Products not involved in the recall include all Abbott Nutrition liquid ready-to-feed and concentrated infant formulas and all powder and liquid specialty formulas, such as Similac Expert Care™ Alimentum®, Elecare ®, Similac Expert Care™ Neosure ®, Similac® Human Milk Fortifier, and metabolic formulas for inherited disorders."

Go here to read the full article and to find out if your formula is part of the recall.  You will need to enter in the lot number found on the bottom of the can.  You will then be told if your can is or is not part of the recall.  If it is, you will then be instructed on how to return your formula to Similac at no cost to you.  Savannah is mostly breast fed, but when she is formula fed we use Enfamil.  However, the other baby I take care of is on Similac.  Thankfully, the can she is using now is not part of the recalled.  I will warn you though that the site was running extremely slow when I checked.  I hope all of you are as blessed as we are and are not affected by this!

• Sign up your kids for the Geoffrey's Birthday Club and get a birthday card and Toys ‘R Us coupon to celebrate their birthdays.  Kids ages 1 through 10 years are eligible.  The coupon value varies.  Last I heard, they were sending out $3.00 off a $3.00 purchase coupons.
• Register for the Chuck E Cheese email coupons and your child with receive a coupon for 20 free tokens on his or her birthday.  In my opinion, the email coupons are better than the newspaper coupons anyways!
• Kids under 10 can join the Zaxbys Kidz Club and receive a free meal on their birthdays.   Plus they will receive a free cookie card by mail for joining.  You must download and print out the form then either mail or fax it in.
• Kids 12 and under can register for the Sonic Birthday Club to receive a free Wacky Pack Meal on their birthdays.
• Sign up for the Old Spaghetti Factory Kids Birthday Club and kids under 10 will receive a free meal on their birthdays. 
• Sign up for Marble Mail from Marble Slab Creamery to register yourself and kids under 13 for free ice cream on your birthday.
• Register your kids under 10 for Denny's Kid's Birthday Club to receive a free meal on their birthdays.  You must print out the form and mail or fax it in.
• Join Club BK from Burger King to receive a free kids meal on your child's birthday.
• Kids under 12 can sign up for free food with the Captain D's Kids Birthday Club.
• Kids under 10 will receive a free meal from California Pizza Kitchen after registering for the CPKids Club.
• Register your child under 12 for the Bob Evans Kids Time Birthday Club for free food on his or her birthday.
