It's Mega Swagbucks Friday!

Huh?  What does that mean?  Swagbucks is a search engine similar to Google that pays you to use it.  Every time you use it to do an Internet search, you have a chance of earning Swagbucks.  These can be redeemed for prizes, including gift cards.  On Fridays, you will have a chance at winning higher than average bucks, for instance: 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 or even 500!  You can also earn Swagbucks by taking polls and surveys on their site.  My favorite prize is the $5.00 Amazon gift card for only 450 Swagbucks.  I know $5.00 doesn't sound like a lot, but it's easy to earn 450 Swagbucks and those $5.00 gift cards add up quickly.  Go to Swagbucks now to sign up!  You will get 30 bonus Swagbucks just for joining!

Kroger Trip 10/22/10

It's been an insane week here.  Jerry's grandmother passed away Sunday so he was gone all week for the funeral, then on his way home the car started acting up and after doing some research he found out it is going to cost anywhere from $600 to $900.  Grrr...  I started taking care of a new child in my in home day care.  Luckily, she is a great kid and it has gone rather smoothly so far.  But since I was so focused on her and Jerry was gone, I've fallen behind on cleaning, laundry, and this blog!  Today will be a complete catch up day as long as Savannah behaves.  Last night I went to Kroger.  On the way there I found out my grandmother in Chicago is in the hospital.  I was planning on making a trip to Target and Publix too, but I was so distracted after I got the phone call that I just bought everything at Kroger.  So I didn't do as well as usual, but I still saved more than I spent, and my deep freezer is now full again.  It was pretty bare and sad before yesterday.  Jerry is a retail manager and often comes home really late and really hungry, so it's always nice to have a freezer full of meals and snacks that he can just pop in the microwave or oven when I'm already in bed!

Graco Recalls Two Million Strollers!

It was kind of a quiet day out there deal wise today, which was slightly a good thing for me.  I started my in home day care today and I am not going to be one of those people who sits on the computer and plops the kids in front of the TV all day.  Not going to happen!  So I thought I would be on here all evening trying to catch up on posting everything, but there isn't really anything to report!  One thing I did want to point out though is the Graco Stroller Recall.  If you own a Graco Stroller, please be sure to check and see if it is a part of this recall!  This recall is because four infants have died!  I'm sure most of you heard about it on the news, but in case you have not yet, here is the info from the Associated Press:

Baby gear maker Graco is recalling about 2 million strollers after receiving reports that four infants died in the strollers.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission, which announced the recall Wednesday, said the four infants became trapped inside the strollers and were strangled. The deaths occurred between 2003 and 2005.

The strollers being recalled are older versions of the Graco Quattro Tour and MetroLite strollers and travel systems, all made before 2007 and distributed by Graco Children's Products Inc. of Atlanta.

CPSC says if babies aren't strapped into the strollers properly, they can slide through the opening between the stroller tray and bottom of the seat — where they can get stuck and be strangled. The commission also said it was aware of five reports of infants becoming trapped, resulting in cuts and bruises, and one report of an infant having difficulty breathing.

The recalled strollers were made before the development in 2008 of a voluntary standard that requires a larger stroller opening between the stroller's tray and seat bottom in order to prevent entrapment and strangulation.

The recalled strollers were sold at retailers nationwide between November 2000 and December 2007.

For a complete list of the model numbers of recalled strollers and travel systems, visit http://www.gracobaby.com/.

If you have a recalled stroller, contact Graco at 877-828-4046 or visit the company's website for a free repair kit. The strollers can continue to be used with an infant car seat as a travel system since the entrapment and strangulation hazards caused by the space gap aren't present.

It Is A Strangely Quiet Sunday Morning...

But I'm not complaining!  Jerry is at work, Savannah has already had a bath and is napping, and Alex still isn't up.  I did all the cleaning and laundry yesterday.  I've already read today's newspaper, and there aren't really any special deals to report.  I don't think I've ever had a morning like this before!  But I do believe I hear my coupon binder calling my name.  It needs some much needed TLC!  Once upon a time it was organized, but I've been so busy the last few weeks that it's no longer the case.  Hopefully I will fix that this morning!  I will tell you guys though to be sure to check the back page of your Red Plum insert this morning.  Mine has a page of Taco Bell Limeade Sparkler coupons on it, but one of them is for an absolutely FREE one, no purchase necessary!  This may be a regional coupon, but be sure to check.  It expires on November 25th.  I hope you all have a happy Sunday!

Kroger Trip: 10/15/10

I did much better at Kroger than I did at Publix.  You could tell that Alex was on fall break and had been with us for the last two weeks.  We were completely out of eggs, milk, and fruit.  Usually a dozen eggs will last us almost a month, but I went through two dozen in a week and a half!  She sure does love her eggs.  Plus I think she's going through another growth spurt.  She's always hungry.  She's like Savannah: needs to eat every four hours!
Bought:
4 Coffee Mate Coffee Creamers @ $1.29 each:  $5.16
1 three pound bag of Ambrosia apples @ $1.99/lb.:  $6.35
Three pounds of bananas @ $0.59/lb.:  $1.72

1 can of Maxwell House coffee:  $5.99
2 packs of Oscar Mayer Turkey Bologna @ $1.49 each:  $2.98
1 gallon of milk:  $2.69
4 pouches of Idahoan instant mashed potatoes @ $1.00 each:  $4.00
1 pouch of Friskies Natural Sensations cat treats:  $0.99

Total Spent:  $21.64 (including tax)
Total Saved:  $31.63, or 59%

I don't have a cat, but I needed a 10th item for the Mega Event, and my sister has a cat, so I figured I would get Sid some FREE cat treats.  I can't believe I spent over $6.00 just on apples, but Ambrosia apples are seriously the best apples I have ever had and I have a difficult time finding them.  I was so excited to see them that I just splurged on them!  I also got a Catalina for $1.00 off my next order at Kroger for purchasing the Idahoan potatoes, so not only did I get them for FREE, they also gave me $1.00!

Publix Trip: 10/15/10

This was a mini Publix trip for me.  I didn't do nearly as well as I did last week, but there were little things that we were completely out of that I needed to stock up on.  Alex always has a bowl of chocolate ice cream for dessert after dinner and we were completely out.  That's a sin in our house.  She also always has fruit snacks with her lunch, and I only had one left in the pantry.  So here's how I did last night:

Bought:
2 bags of Banquet Chicken Tenders BOGO:  $5.49
2 cartons of Mayfield Ice Cream BOGO:  $5.49
2 boxes of Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks BOGO:  $2.79
1 bottle of Pompeian Olive Oil BOGO:  $5.50
1 five pound bag of Idaho Potatoes:  $2.69

Used:
$1.00/2 Banquet Chicken from the October All You Magazine (made each bag $2.25)
$0.50/2 Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks from 10/3/10 SS (made each box $0.90)
$1.00/1 Pompeian Olive Oil found here (made it $4.50)
Total Spent:  $20.67
Total Saved:  $23.23, or 53%
